Sex Worker Wellness Circle july
July SWer Wellness Circle: Girl/Boy for Hire — The Price of Performance
To create a space for sex workers to talk about issues that come up at work, to network and be in community with others, and to help close the gap in mental health accessibility in this population.
To create a space for Queer and nonbinary folks to share their work experiences and receive kindness and empathy from their community members.
- Foster a space where we can relate to one another with kindness and dignity
- Cultivate a safe space for SWers who might otherwise be isolated
- Uplift Sex Worker voices
Event took place virtually on Zoom. A topic for discussion was prepared and participants were invited to share what was most alive for them. The meeting was opened with brief introductions, then Selena offered prompts and Soujin offered a meditation to close the event. Partners: LAST Collective.
More awareness and partnership with LAST, and new networking opportunities for participants. Participants had an opportunity to experience co-regulation with others, network with fellow workers, exchange resources, and receive care and empathy from fellow sex workers.
"We're doing vulnerable work within the process of finding authenticity."
"Thank you for having these spaces."
Sliding scale / free access. Virtual via Zoom.
Marketing tasks will start much earlier for future campaigns to allow for more exposure and greater attendance.
Supporters can stay involved by spreading awareness about wellness events and participating in future sessions. This ongoing wellness programming builds community, reduces isolation, and creates a documented record of SU's impact — valuable for grants and long-term organizational growth.
