I’m interested in starting to organize my workplace. What’s the best way to get started?

If you’re ready to take that step, you are in the right place.  Firstly, be as discreet as possible about your ideas.  Managers and owners are terrified of workers organizing.  Fill out the “Organize” form to get started so we can learn as much as possible about you.  You can use your stage name or an anonymous name during this process.  We take discretion very seriously and will never share your information with others.  The only members of Strippers United that will know about your inquiry is our Organizing Committee.  Someone from this committee will reach out to you as soon as possible once we receive your form submission.  We will set up a call with you and/or your group to get a clear understanding of your needs. How we proceed following that call will be up to you, and we will engage with you and/or your group as long as it's within our parameters of skills and expertise.  If you need assistance outside of our expertise, we will connect you to the right people/person/place.

I’m writing a paper for school and I’d like to connect with someone who is an expert in the field of Sex Work. Will you connect with me?

We get these types of requests frequently.  These requests are time-consuming and require unpaid emotional labor. Unfortunately, we do not accept are not accepting uncompensated requests at this time.

I’m a journalist looking to cover a story. Can someone in your organization provide me with information for my article?

We are extremely cautious about who we talk to in mainstream media.  This is due to the historically antagonistic relationship between the media and sex workers.  Typically, we do not talk to White journalists, specifically cis-gendered White men.  We will only take requests for stories with trusted journalists, and we look up who the journalists are, who they write for, and what types of subject matter they cover before considering participation.

We are interested in sharing bylines with journalists. This is a great way to collaborate with an expert writer and sex worker from our organization.

I’m interested in volunteering for Strippers United, but not necessarily becoming a regular member. How can I be of assistance?

We are always looking for help as all of our current members spend countless hours working for free.  Any help can go a long way.  You can fill out our Volunteer Form here to get started if you’re interested in any of the areas below.

Don’t see the option you’re looking for? Check the “other” option and fill in the blank.

  • Making social media graphics/videos

  • Being a regular social media sharer (meaning you share our announcements regularly)

  • Help to raise funds when needed (contact your network and suggest they make donations to us when looking for a place to share their money)

  • Be boots on the ground at our in-person events

  • Connect us with your network of people who can share our work on social media to increase visibility, to donate, to mention us during media interviews when discussing sex work

  • Donate merchandise items that we can sell as a way to raise money for our efforts

  • Offer licensed therapy sessions for our members and community followers

  • Become involved in our workplace rights and educational outreach opportunities

  • Collaborate on materials used for briefs, newsletters, and shareable community assets

I want to be a member of Strippers United and attend regular meetings.  How can I get started?

We love welcoming new members to our crew!  We have put together a contact form for interested potential members.  You can find that here.  To see what committees exist within our organization and where you would best fit in, check out our handy dandy SU Intro Deck here.
